Joao Cancelo returned to FC Barcelona during the winter transfer window on loan from Al Hilal until the end of the season. The 31-year-old Portuguese right-back had spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan with Barcelona while still a Manchester City player. Cancelo established strong relationships in the Barcelona dressing room and described Gavi as the player he was most excited to see again. Cancelo said Gavi made him feel at home, called him like a little brother, and recalled Gavi offering support from their first meeting. Gavi, 21, is recovering from a knee injury and is entering the final phase of recovery, expected to resume group training soon.
