Barcelona trailed 2-0 at half-time after Iván Romero's early strike and a stoppage-time penalty from José Luis Morales awarded by VAR for a handball. Marcus Rashford made his full debut but was substituted at half-time as Barcelona chased the game. Dani Olmo and Gavi came on and Pedri struck from distance to begin the comeback, followed three minutes later by Ferran Torres' volley from a Raphinha cross. The match was decided in the 90th minute when Lamine Yamal's cross was deflected into his own net by Unai Elgezabal, completing a 3-2 turnaround.
Levante frustrated the champions in the first period and went into the break with a two-goal lead thanks to Iván Romero's strike and José Luis Morales' penalty at the end of the half. Barça struck twice in three minutes through Pedri and Ferran Torres and they had to wait until the 90th minute for the winner when Lamine Yamal's cross was headed into his own goal by Unai Elgezabal.
Torres should have equalised for Barcelona when the ball fell to him in the box, but he crashed his shot against the crossbar. Moments later Barça were almost caught out at a free-kick, but Adrián de la Fuente headed a decent chance wide. Raphinha planted a header the wrong side of a post as the visitors pressed at the end of the first half. But in stoppage time, VAR spotted a handball in the Barça area against Alejandro Balde as he blocked a goal-bound effort from Morales. The 38-year-old stepped up to tuck away the spot-kick and double Levante's lead at the end of a half in which Barça had 85% possession.
Marcus Rashford made his full debut for Barcelona following his loan move from Manchester United but was substituted at half-time. Levante had already seen a José Morales goal disallowed -- he was a long way offside -- before they took a shock 15th-minute lead. Jeremy Toljan collected a deep cross out on the right and turned the ball back inside to Romero, who beat his marker before slotting home.
