Alejandro Valverde and Carolin Schiff ride to solo elite titles at Castellon Gravel Race
Briefly

At the Castellón Gravel Race, Alejandro Valverde secured the elite men's title while Carolin Schiff claimed victory in the women's category. Valverde, who transitioned to gravel racing after a long WorldTour career, continued his success in the UCI Trek Gravel World Series, having previously won multiple races. Schiff, a former road cyclist, has also made waves in gravel racing with numerous podiums and significant wins. The challenging course featured 72% gravel roads and substantial elevation gain, making the race a true test of endurance and skill.
Schiff, who also moved from a long career on the road to gravel, has notched nine UCI Gravel World Series podiums in two seasons, as well as a signature win at Unbound Gravel 200 and The Traka 200.
Valverde opened his 2025 campaign two weeks ago at the opening round of the Spanish Gravel Cup, finishing well outside the top 20 at Tres Cantos Gravel.
