From the very beginning I noticed that I wouldn't bump into people like myself in rural spaces, despite my city being very diverse.
Cultural norms can also play a significant role in deterring minority groups from engaging with the outdoors. In communities where outdoor activities have not been traditionally emphasised, there's a lack of knowledge about where to go, what to wear and how to prepare for something like a hike or camping trip.
