Nagi Maehashi, the founder of RecipeTin Eats, has publicly accused influencer Brooke Bellamy of plagiarizing her recipes in Bellamy's bestselling cookbook, Bake with Brooki. Maehashi highlighted striking similarities between her recipes for caramel slice and baklava and those published by Bellamy. Following legal discussions with the publishers, Maehashi expressed her concerns regarding the exploitation of her work, stating it compromises the funding for her food bank initiative, RecipeTin Meals. In response, Bellamy denied any wrongdoing, claiming her recipes are original and developed over years of practice.
I'm no stranger to seeing my recipes copied online, but seeing what appeared to me to be one of my recipes printed in a book [...] was shocking.
To see them plagiarised (in my view) and used in a book for profit, without permission, and without credit, doesn't just feel unfair. It feels like a blatant exploitation of my work.
