Faye Toogood + Tacchini's Bread & Butter Moment in Milan
Briefly

For Milan Design Week, Faye Toogood unveiled her Bread & Butter collection for Italian furniture brand Tacchini, inspired by her morning sourdough baking ritual. The collection's soft curves and tactile materials reflect her hands-on design approach, utilizing actual bread and butter to explore form and warmth. The centerpiece of the collection is a curved sofa designed to embody comfort and tactile pleasure, while other items such as the Bread Console and Side Tables emerged from balancing bread slices, showcasing architectural design influenced by culinary processes.
I wanted to create a chair as comforting, and as tactile as soft butter, the designer shares. Modeling with slippery fingers, the modular Butter Sofa appeared.
Some people have transcendental meditation or prayer. I have my sourdough starter and half an hour of sticky, squashy, floury, sensory, in-the-present pleasure.
