The Situated Creative Practices for the Pluriverse (SIT-PLU) is a project that addresses socio-ecological challenges via artistic interventions. Influenced by the Zapatista notion of a pluriverse, it advocates for various ways of knowing and living, with an emphasis on social well-being and communal connections. In 2026 and 2027, residencies will invite artists to interact with local contexts in the Netherlands, Italy, and Spain. Applications will be evaluated through a detailed submission process aimed at fostering meaningful community impact and transformation in public spaces.
The SIT-PLU initiative aims to tackle socio-ecological challenges through artistic interventions, drawing inspiration from the Zapatista concept of a pluriverse where diverse ways of knowing coexist.
Selected artists will engage for a year in specific contexts to develop creative interventions, emphasizing community interdependence and relationships between humans and more-than-human entities.
The application process for SIT-RES consists of two phases, with a focus on innovative proposals that make a meaningful impact on local territories and communities.
The participating institutions span across the Netherlands, Italy, and Spain, each addressing unique socio-environmental issues, showcasing a commitment to localized artistic practices.
