Scalera, a Swiss startup, has successfully raised $6.5 million to develop an AI platform aimed at automating procurement and tender processes in construction. Originating from ETH Zurich, Scalera.ai's tool helps construction companies by managing supplier communications, tender documents, and subcontractor selection, drastically reducing the manual effort involved. CEO Leonardo Reinhard highlighted the inefficiencies in traditional methods, emphasizing how much time is wasted on repetitive tasks. The startup operates on a value-based pricing model and caters to both construction firms and suppliers, with initial clients including Butti and Marti Tunnel AG.
"We work with the tender documents, and automatically identify and find the right suppliers and subcontractors," said Leonardo Reinhard, Scalera.ai's CEO and co-founder.
"The people in the construction process have to be skilled, know the products and the suppliers. It's repetitive work, and many people do it with pen and paper."
"This goes for both the construction contractors and the supply side," explained Reinhard about the platform's dual functionality.
"Scalera automates everything from extraction and assignment of material packages to coordinating quote requests and proposals for subcontractors."
