Planned multi-million euro takeover of Celtic Water Care Solutions faces in-depth competition probe
CSG Chemical Solutions plans to acquire Cork-based Celtic Water Care Solutions in a multi-million euro deal. The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission decided a Phase 2 in-depth investigation is needed after a preliminary examination. The probe will determine whether the transaction would result in a substantial lessening of competition in the State. Celtic Water Care Solutions employs 14 people and provides wastewater and effluent treatment chemicals to private sector customers across Ireland. It reported €19m revenue and €2.1m profit after tax in 2024. CSG employs about 100 people, operates a chemical tanker fleet, and reported €58.2m revenue and €10.7m profit after tax in 2024. The CCPC confirmed notification on January 6 and will proceed under competition law requirements.
