Amid discussions about tariffs on Chinese goods, Crave jewelry has launched a transparent Kickstarter campaign for its Tease Necklace, revealing costs for different manufacturing approaches. The company offers three purchasing options: fully produced in the U.S., assembled in the U.S. with Chinese parts, and entirely made in China. Despite a 30% tariff, the cost differences remain significant, with the U.S. options priced much higher than the Chinese equivalent. CEO Michael Topolovac emphasizes that eliminating China from the supply chain is unrealistic as it remains a dominant factor in global production.
"Take China off the map as a global supply chain or factory? That's not what's going to happen," says Crave CEO Michael Topolovac. "If tariffs hold this rate, China will be as strong as ever."
The total build cost is $80.31 sourced in the US, $47.83 assembled in the U.S., and $25.74 made in China, illustrating stark price differences.
