Meta AI is rolling out in Europe after all
Briefly

Meta AI is set to launch in 41 European countries and 21 overseas territories this week, after a year-long delay due to regulatory hurdles. Initially, the AI will offer limited text-based chat capabilities, including brainstorming, trip planning, and answering specific questions. Unlike its US version, the European rollout does not include image generation or editing, nor has it been trained on EU user data. Meta emphasizes its commitment to collaboration with European regulators to ensure safe deployment of AI technologies.
This launch follows almost a year of intensive engagement with various European regulators and for now, we are only offering a text-only model in the region which wasn't trained on first-party data from users in the EU.
While the company intended to bring the assistant to Europe, Meta had to pause the rollout in the region after Ireland's privacy watchdog asked it to delay training on content posted by Facebook and Instagram users.
