CISPE, a European cloud provider organization, has announced a €1 million investment to develop sovereign cloud services that are not influenced by foreign governments. This initiative aims to enhance local options for small to medium-sized businesses, alleviating concerns regarding potential disruptions from US regulatory actions. With the Fulcrum Project, CISPE seeks to create a federated system allowing European service providers to compete effectively with major US cloud providers without pushing all customers away from existing services. The focus is on providing alternatives while acknowledging the relationship many have with US hyperscalers.
