UK holidaymakers to face 7 visa waiver if travelling to the EU next summer
Briefly

Ylva Johansson, the EU home affairs commissioner, confirmed that the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) will launch in spring 2025, requiring travel waivers for entry into the Schengen Area.
Starting in the first half of 2025, individuals from over 60 visa-exempt countries must secure an ETIAS travel authorization to enter 30 European countries, highlighting a significant policy shift.
The ETIAS authorization, similar to the US ESTA, will be valid for three years or until passport expiry, catering to the need for enhanced security and border controls.
In addition to ETIAS, the EU is also implementing a new Entry/Exit System (EES) to track non-EU travelers more efficiently, indicating a robust approach to immigration and security.
