Tugendhat joins race to be next Tory leader
Briefly

Mr Tugendhat stated his intention to run for the Conservative leader position, aspiring to also become the next Conservative prime minister after Rishi Sunak's resignation following the electoral defeat.
He highlighted that the Conservative party lost the trust of the British public in the last election by failing to deliver on promises of lower taxes, controlled immigration, and more autonomy, due to internal conflicts.
Mr Tugendhat expressed willingness to withdraw from or leave the European Court of Human Rights if its decisions impeded border control and serving the best interests of the British public.
Although previously unsuccessful, Mr Tugendhat, a former Army officer and current Kent MP, exhibited a strong stance on foreign affairs, including critiquing Boris Johnson and the UK's actions, underlining his prior experiences.
