Gardai to be deployed to border with Northern Ireland amid row with UK over asylum seekers

Up to 100 gardaí to be deployed to frontline duties to focus on asylum seekers who may have applied for status in the UK and now in the Republic, as well as on deportations.

Ministers believe the UK's stance is posturing, suggesting its threat to send migrants to Rwanda is causing an influx of people leaving the UK for Ireland.
