Sir Keir Starmer has appointed Michael Ellam to lead negotiations with the EU as part of a renewed government effort to improve relations without reversing Brexit.
Cabinet Office minister Nick Thomas-Symonds highlighted that Michael’s experience in international finance would significantly aid in enhancing economic growth through a reset with the EU.
Former Chancellor George Osborne praised Ellam as having one of the sharpest, most strategic minds, embodying the best traditions of the impartial civil service.
By accepting the role, Mr. Ellam takes over from Sir Olly Robbins, marking a notable shift in the civil service under the new leadership.
