BREAKING: Austria's far-right FPO set for historic election win, projections say
Briefly

"Austrians have made history today," said FPO Secretary General Michael Schnedlitz, indicating the monumental shift in the political landscape with the FPO's significant rise in votes.
Since Herbert Kickl took over the scandal-tainted party in 2021, it has seen its popularity rebound on voter anger over migration, inflation and Covid restrictions, in line with far-right parties elsewhere in Europe.
"I have a good feeling about today. I believe the vibe is right and the vibe will turn into votes," Kickl told reporters after voting, reflecting optimism in light of the projections.
The first projections showed the FPO at 29.1 percent of the vote, a substantial increase of 13 percentage points compared to the last election, marking a potential historical win.
