'A new era is upon us': EU unveils 800 billion plan to rearm Europe
Briefly

The European Commission has unveiled a comprehensive plan called 'ReArm Europe' to bolster defense expenditures across EU member states, as security concerns heighten. With an initial budget of €800 billion, the plan recommends suspending strict spending rules to enable nations to ramp up defense funding without incurring penalties for deficit violations. This includes creating a new instrument for €150 billion in loans for defense investments, encouraging collaboration and modernization in military capabilities, and reallocating existing funds towards defense strategies to support Ukraine's military needs and strengthen European safety.
Europe faces a clear and present danger on a scale that none of us has seen in our adult lifetime.
'ReArm Europe' could mobilise close to €800 billion of defence expenditures for a safe and resilient Europe.
This will allow member states to significantly increase their defence expenditures without triggering the excessive deficit procedure.
We are talking about pan-European capability domains -- for example: air and missile defence, artillery systems, missiles and ammunition drones and anti-drone systems.
