Why Haven't the Sanctions on Russia Worked?
Briefly

Although the initial announcement of sanctions led to a crash in the value of the ruble and bank runs, the economy soon stabilized. After falling a less-than-expected 2.1 percent in 2022, Russia's GDP actually grew last year, and appears to be on pace to do so again in 2024.
If the sanctions on Russia have had limited impact, that's in part because they were limited in scope.
