In a tragic incident in Sri Lanka, the Batticaloa-Colombo train, known as "Meenagaya," derailed after colliding with a herd of elephants near Gal Oya, Polonnaruwa. The accident, which occurred early in the morning near Habarana, close to a wildlife reserve, led to the deaths of six elephants crossing the tracks. Fortunately, none of the passengers on the train were harmed, although two surviving elephants were treated by wildlife authorities at the scene. Video footage emerged showing the aftermath of the collision and the elephants' unfortunate fate.
