Russian President Vladimir Putin met with his Syrian counterpart Bashar Assad in Moscow, expressing concern over rising tensions in the Middle East.
Russia has waged a military campaign in Syria since September 2015, teaming up with Iran to support Assad's government in reclaiming control over most of the country.
