Protesters displayed various signs criticizing the wedding and called for a focus on the city's welfare alongside Bezos's monetary contributions to environmental efforts, which they deemed insufficient.
Martina Vergnano, one of the demonstrators, stated that they are disrupting the wealthy plans, pointing out how the rich accumulate money by exploiting the city’s precarious conditions.
Flavio Cogo, a local resident, expressed that the donations Bezos made to environmental organizations are merely superficial gestures meant to ease his guilt while the local populace suffers.
