According to the FSB, Islam Batsiyev is suspected of taking part in an attack in Chechnya against Russian paratroopers in February 2000, in which 84 Russian soldiers were killed in one day.
Russia fought two wars against separatists in Chechnya, in 1994-1999 and 1999-2009.
