The Volgoneft-212 tanker, carrying 13 crew members and fuel oil, ran aground and lost its bow, resulting in one crew member dead and others rescued.
A second tanker, the Volgoneft-239, also suffered damage and had 14 crew members on board. It ran aground close to Taman port, where rescue efforts were initiated.
Both tankers were transporting nearly 9,000 tons of mazut, with social media revealing images of an oil slick in the water due to the spill.
