The new project in Alexandroupolis aims to significantly cut southeastern Europe's reliance on Russian gas, supported by the European Commission's funding to bolster local economies.
This project includes a floating storage tank and regasification unit, culminating in a complex pipeline system that heightens Greece's capacity to export gas to neighboring countries.
The European Commission's investment of over €157 million for this project is expected to generate substantial savings in emissions and fuel costs as coal and oil are phased out.
With the completion of this pipeline, Greece's export capacity of 8.5 billion cubic metres will provide vital energy resources to countries heavily dependent on Russian supplies.
