Wicklow, Dublin, Louth, Wexford, and Waterford are predicted to receive the heaviest rainfall today, but downpours are expected to lessen by this afternoon. Temperatures will range from 10C to 13C. Met Éireann warned of flooding along the eastern seaboard and projected an improving weather pattern over the Easter weekend, starting with scattered showers and sunny spells on Sunday, and a slight increase in sunshine on Monday as rain dissipates. The temperatures remain chilly, with highs not exceeding 14C during the bank holiday.
Rain will continue through the day, but it should ease in intensity and frequency this afternoon, becoming dry in most counties.
Met Éireann forecasted flooding for counties along the eastern seaboard yesterday to accompany torrential downpours which brought a drab end to a largely wet week.
There is some uncertainty in the forecast for Easter Sunday, but current indications suggest outbreaks of light rain will clear eastwards in the morning.
Easter Monday is forecast to see a slight uptick in the level of sunshine experienced across the country as rain will clear.
