US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's visit to the Middle East, his ninth since the Hamas attacks, focused on mediation efforts for a cease-fire, yet no firm agreement was reached.
Blinken emphasized the urgency of establishing a cease-fire and hostage agreement, stating, "Our message is simple: it's clear, and it's urgent; we need to get a cease-fire and hostage agreement over the finish line, and we need to do it now."
During his discussions, Blinken noted that Israel agreed to a proposal for bridging gaps with Hamas, highlighting that "it's very clear on the schedule and the locations of [Israeli military] withdrawals from Gaza."
Hamas criticized the proposal as a reversal of their prior agreement, claiming that Washington had conceded to new conditions from Israel, indicating complications in the negotiation process.
