Temperatures are expected to rise from Thursday as high pressure brings settled conditions and clear skies for many areas. Western Scotland and Northern Ireland are expected to be cooler and cloudier, with some rain at times. The warmest conditions are forecast for the south, with 30°C likely on Saturday and 32°C on Sunday. Temperatures may peak on Monday, with 33°C possible in southern England and the Midlands. May and Spring UK temperature records are likely to be broken, with forecasts exceeding the existing 32.8°C record. Much of the UK should be dry and sunny, while Northern Ireland and western Scotland may see more cloud and showers. Low sea surface temperatures may also bring low cloud and sea fog near western coasts.
