Heavy showers today as Met Eireann forecasts cooler temperatures for the week

The weather forecast indicates heavy showers this morning in east Munster and south Leinster that will clear later. As the day progresses, showers will spread from the west to the east, with a possibility of hail and thunder. Tonight, most areas will experience clearing, although more showers will occur in the west. The coming days promise a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, with generally cool temperatures ranging from 1 to 12 degrees Celsius, and the weekend expected to be unsettled with further rain.
This morning will see some heavy showers in east Munster and south Leinster, which will later clear. Showers in the west of the country will spread eastwards in the early afternoon, some heavy with a chance of hail and thunder.
Met Éireann has forecast a "generally cool" period ahead with a mixture of sunny spells and showers or longer spells of rain.
Tomorrow will be mainly dry with just well scattered showers. There are sunny spells expected for many areas, though it will remain mostly cloudy in the east of the country.
Later in the week, there will continue to be a mix of sunny spells and showers. Next weekend is expected to be unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain.
