At least 11 people dead after two shipwrecks in the Mediterranean Sea

At least 11 people have died and 64 others are missing after two shipwrecks off southern Italy, according to a German charity, the Italian coast guard and United Nations agencies.
The survivors were handed over to the Italian coast guard, with unconscious individuals receiving medical care and awaiting emergency evacuation. Ten deceased individuals were found in the lower deck of the boat.
The refugees and migrants rescued by the German charity were from Syria, Egypt, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. The second shipwreck occurred east of Calabria, with 64 people missing and 11 rescued.
Italian coast guard, along with Frontex, is searching for missing individuals. Our thoughts are with the families affected by the tragic shipwrecks.
