Following the 2020 election, which ignited widespread protests over alleged vote rigging, the regime's repression of dissent escalated. Many critics were arrested or fled amid an oppressive environment that silenced independent media. Exiled opposition leaders, including Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, have chosen to boycott the election, highlighting its undemocratic nature and the extreme repression faced by any form of dissent.
Because it's mostly like a ritual for dictators when they are reappointing themselves. With Lukashenko's security services firmly controlling the country, no protests are anticipated this time around.
Now is not the time for the Belarusian people to take to the streets or stage visible uprisings, as the level of repression is simply too high.
