Wildfires fanned by strong winds scorch Turkiye's Izmir
Briefly

In Turkiye's western province of Izmir, firefighters are battling persistent wildfires exacerbated by strong winds, leading to evacuations in four villages and two neighborhoods. Local authorities report that winds gusting at 40-50 km/h have hindered firefighting efforts for the second consecutive day. Over 1,000 personnel, along with helicopters and fire-extinguishing aircraft, are engaged in combating the blazes in the regions of Kuyucak and Doganbey. These recurring wildfires in Turkiye's coastal areas are attributed to increasing summer heat and drought, linked to climate change.
