A weak area of low pressure is developing over southern Canada and will move east into the Great Lakes starting Wednesday. Cold air across the region will allow snow to spread from Ohio into Pennsylvania and then into the Northeast. The fast-moving clipper system lacks moisture, so snowfall amounts will be generally light. New York City and Boston should expect only a sporadic dusting, with snow reaching New York City around 9 p.m. Wednesday and likely beginning near midnight. Farther west, western Pennsylvania and parts of West Virginia could receive 3 to 5 inches, with higher amounts in elevated terrain. By Thursday morning the clipper will move into Canada.
