Need to cool your home? Try smearing yogurt on the windows
Briefly

A researcher in the UK found that applying yogurt to windows can lower the temperature of a house by up to 6.3 degrees Fahrenheit. This study was conducted during a significant heatwave affecting the UK and the U.S. In the experiment, two identical houses were tested, one with yogurt on the windows and one without. On average, the yogurt house was one degree cooler, and temperatures significantly dropped on hotter days. The yogurt creates a film on the windows that blocks solar radiation and thus reduces heat gain.
Applying yogurt to windows can effectively lower a house's temperature by up to 6.3 degrees Fahrenheit, as found in a study by a UK researcher.
The study used Greek yogurt with a fat percentage of approximately 10% applied to the outside of windows, which blocks solar radiation that raises indoor temperatures.
