Met Eireann issues Status Yellow low temperature and ice warning for 10 counties
"According to its extended range forecast, Met Éireann said low pressure in northern parts of Europe will lead to "wetter than average" rainfall with "above normal" temperatures for this time of year. As for the remainder of this week, it is set to turn "unsettled" with spells of rain. Today has begun very chilly, but dry, in many parts with the arrival of clear, sunny spells in the later morning and early afternoon."
"Temperatures will reach between 3C and 7C. Tonight will turn very cold again, with temperatures dropping to as low as -3C. Tomorrow will start cloudy as rain picks up along Atlantic counties with temperatures of 5C to 9C. By night, that rain will spread eastwards over the rest of the country, becoming heaviest in the west with temperatures of 1C to 4C."
Status Yellow low temperature and ice warning is in place from 23:00 tonight until 08:00 tomorrow for Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow and Tipperary. The warning highlights hazardous travel conditions and animal welfare concerns. A separate Status Yellow snow and ice warning for Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Leitrim and Sligo expires at noon. Low pressure over northern Europe will bring wetter-than-average rainfall and above-normal temperatures next week. Remaining days will be unsettled with spells of rain. Today is chilly but often dry with highs of 3C to 7C; tonight may drop to -3C.
