Mack LR Electric garbage trucks help the Bronx breathe better
"Royal Waster Services took delivery of its first Mack LR Electric garbage truck in December - and they're happy enough with their big EV's performance to have placed an order for three more, helping Bronx residents sleep in, and breathe easier. Royal Waste Services received its first Mack LR Electric garbage truck in December and ordered three additional units following strong early performance. The initial vehicle collected about 75 tons of waste per week during its first eight weeks while maintaining 100 percent operational uptime. Partial funding came from the New York Truck Voucher Incentive Program administered by NYSERDA. Drivers reported reduced fatigue from the absence of engine vibration, improved control and responsiveness on stop-and-go routes, and quieter operation benefiting Bronx residents. Electric propulsion also delivers fuel and maintenance cost savings plus zero tailpipe emissions, supporting urban operational viability.
