Regionale Verkehrsgesellschaft Dahme-Spreewald has introduced 16 new battery-electric buses to enhance public transport in the Dahme-Spreewald district. Funded by €5.7 million from federal grants and €4.4 million from the district, the new fleet represents an investment of €11.1 million. Each 12-meter bus features a 400 kWh battery allowing for a range of up to 300 km, recharging in under two hours, and includes amenities like USB ports and free Wi-Fi. The project aims to provide modern, accessible, and environmentally friendly transport for passengers, especially in northern areas of the district.
Siegfried Richter, Managing Director of RVS, states that the new buses are to be primarily deployed in the north of the district, enhancing travel comfort with more space.
Patrick Schnieder, Federal Minister for Transport, mentions that modern buses are the backbone of public transport, particularly in rural areas, emphasizing their importance in mobility.
