A dense fog advisory covers the East Bay Interior Valleys and Northern Monterey Bay from 9:42 a.m. until 11 a.m., with visibility one quarter mile or less. Low visibility creates hazardous driving conditions and commuters should allow extra travel time. Drivers should reduce speed, use low-beam headlights (and fog lights if available), avoid high beams, maintain a safe following distance, and stay within lane markings. In near-zero visibility, drivers should turn on hazard lights and pull into a safe location or pull as far off the road as possible and leave only hazard lights on.
