Most of Los Angeles County, Orange County and the Inland Empire are forecast to receive 4 to 8 inches of rain, with the High Desert 2 to 3 inches and mountain ranges 6 to 12 inches. Numerous populated areas have high probabilities of receiving 3 or more inches, including Anaheim (77%), Santa Ana (74%) and Ontario (73%). Downtown Los Angeles has an 80% chance of 2 or more inches through Christmas Day. Heaviest rainfall rates, up to a half to one inch per hour, are possible between midnight Tuesday and noon Wednesday, increasing mudslide and debris-flow risk in recent burn scars. Rain will continue on Christmas with decreasing intensity and lingering showers possible Friday.
