Funding has been announced for 10 biodiversity projects in Co Sligo as part of Biodiversity Week. The projects include a Barn Owl survey with continued monitoring, citizen science, recommendations implementation, and a targeted nest box scheme. Wild Sligo Biodiversity Awareness will deliver training, education, and citizen science engagement across the county while aligning with national biodiversity objectives. The Sligo Invasive Alien Species programme will survey and treat Giant Hogweed, develop a control protocol, treat IAS in Cleveragh Demesne, and raise awareness. Other projects cover woodland bat monitoring using a standardised all-Ireland methodology, biodiversity auditing, recording Irish mayfly, grazing for Killaspugbrone Dunes, artificial lighting training, and dune management planning.
