Sunny spells and frequent heavy showers will affect the region through the weekend. North and west will experience the heaviest rain while east and southeast will see more sunshine. Temperatures will range roughly between 14C and 21C depending on day and area. Overnight will be mostly dry before cloud builds and rain spreads by Saturday morning. Saturday will be wet and breezy with heavy rain at times and a localized flooding risk, with potential gale-force winds on the west coast. Sunday will be breezy with scattered heavy showers and possible thunderstorms. Early next week looks similarly unsettled.
Today will bring sunny spells and showers, with some heavy showers in the mix as well. The 80,000 revellers flocking to Stradbally should keep the raincoats and wellies handy. The north and west of the country will get the worst of the rain, while there will be more sunshine in the east and southeast. Highest temperatures will be between 15 and 20C.
It will turn mostly dry and clear overnight with just a few showers, but cloud will build up again later in the night and spread over most areas by Saturday morning. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 13C. Tomorrow will be wet and breezy and widespread rain in the morning will be heavy at times, bringing the chance of some localise flooding. Winds could reach gale force at times along the west coast.
A breezy day with a mix of cloud and sunshine is in store for Sunday, when showers will more across the country from the east. Some will turn heavy and there may be thunderstorms. The east and southeast will again enjoy the best of the sunny breaks, with highs of 14 to 19C. The early part of next week will continue much the same as widespread showers on Monday could turn heavy or thundery.
