Ivan Toney has been recalled to the England World Cup squad after almost 12 months without an appearance. He previously played only once for England under Thomas Tuchel, coming on as an 88th-minute substitute in a loss to Senegal. He was left out of the past four squads, but Tuchel has brought him back based on scenarios and feedback from Toney’s club coach. Toney was part of the Euro 2024 squad and is expected to play a similar late-substitute role behind Harry Kane.
