Dimitri Payet announced his retirement from football after 21 years in senior football. He was without a club for nine months after two years at Vasco da Gama. Payet began his career at Nantes and gained prominence at Marseille. He had a stint at West Ham, making 60 appearances and scoring 15 goals. He returned to Marseille, where he made 326 appearances and scored 78 goals. Payet earned 38 caps for France and was a key player in Euro 2016.
