Max Dowman made history by becoming the youngest ever scorer in the history of the UEFA Youth League, but Arsenal U19s began their campaign with a defeat.
Arsenal were without key players such as Ethan Nwaneri, featuring mostly debutants, as they struggled against Atalanta's established youth team.
Despite early chances, Arsenal could not recover after falling behind to Atalanta, who dominated much of the match and scored four goals.
Dowman's introduction at 14 made headlines not only for his age but also due to Arsenal's overall lack of success in the tournament.
