Kasey McAteer: 'My late uncle Joe was a massive follower of Ireland. Everywhere he went he wore a little Irish badge'
Briefly

It took a while to get things sorted, to get my Irish passport. But I am here now and am happy to get started. Contact was first made by Stephen Kenny, and getting stuff worked out, like passports and stuff, can take time. But I got it sorted in the end and that is what brings me here.
As a young boy I didn't really think about it but the more you grow up the more you learn about your family heritage, and what it would mean to me and my family to play for Ireland, it would be a massive thing.
My late uncle Joe was a massive follower of Ireland. Everywhere he went he wore a little Irish badge and always reminded me that my blood is with Ireland.
There are seven of my family coming over. They are all looking forward to it. I had a phone call with them last night, with my mum and my siblings.
