Will Carling, former England rugby captain, has raised concerns about the coaching quality within the national team, suggesting it's hindering player performance. In his commentary, he refuted claims from players like Ellis Genge that former players are out of touch with current issues. Carling emphasized that many talented players are not performing to their potential under the existing gameplan, which appears restrictive. He acknowledged that the coaching team lacks experience and that current players should be receptive to the constructive criticism from seasoned ex-players, as it could provide valuable insights.
I wouldn't necessarily agree with him, Carling said. A lot of ex-players are hugely experienced and have a lot of knowledge.
You look at the calibre of the England coaching team and you have to question whether that's the best we can put out there.
