Three college students of Palestinian descenttwo of whom are U.S. citizens and the other a legal resident, according to policewere shot and injured on Saturday night in Burlington, Vermont, while on their way to a Thanksgiving holiday dinner.
The families of the victims as well as rights organizations have urged authorities to investigate the shooting as a hate crime.
Police added the students were shot in the front yard of a house belonging to one of their relatives after they'd returned from bowling.
