City public school buildings will be closed Monday, Jan. 26 because of extreme weather, with instruction shifting to remote learning to meet the state's 180-day requirement. All after-school programs, adult education and other school-based programming are canceled. The closure affects approximately 500,000 students across more than 1,100 schools. High school students and grades six through eight in six-to-12 schools will observe a professional learning day and have Monday off. Officials confirmed devices and supports are in place, urged families to log on early to prevent outages, and prepared to address technology issues as needed.
