Schools refusing to accept new pupils unless 'voluntary' contributions paid

Acceptance letters sent by some public schools across the country state that the offer is conditional on certain requirements being met - including the payment of contributions.
SVP also found children are sometimes called out in class due to non-payment, and some had lockers and journals withheld if their parents did not pay. The charity criticised some schools for not making it clear such contributions are optional.
