After weeks of being shut down due to Hurricane Helene, Asheville City Schools is reopening Monday with modified schedules for elementary and secondary students.
Elementary students will have classes from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. while secondary students will attend from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., as stated on the district's website.
In the wake of Hurricane Helene, the district began drilling its own wells as schools remained without running water, leaving the current water status unclear.
Although schools are reopening, after-school activities will still be suspended for Monday and Tuesday, reflecting the ongoing recovery efforts after the hurricane.
